Jim Larsen

JIM LARSEN - DIRECTOR

Jim Larsen has been active in the Sea Scout program for over 15 years, starting as Skipper of SSS Dolphin Too and since 1997 as Commodore of the Sea Scout program.  Jim’s scouting experience started as a “dirt Scout" in Wyoming earning the rank of Eagle Scout.  He has developed several youth programs over the years since.  A US Coast Guard licensed Captain, Jim is on the water teaching young adults about the adventures in maritime fields several times a week.  For seven years, ten weeks each summer, Jim was a Scuba Instructor for the returning student dive program for Aramco in Saudi Arabia.  Jim’s business is teaching Scuba diving from basic through instructor and First Aid and CPR classes.  Sharing his love of water adventure is the driving force for making opportunities accessible for young adults through Adventure on the River.

Allison

ALLISON HEFLEY - PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR

Allison has the unique honor of being a female sailor from the landlocked state of Iowa. The community program in Iowa City that taught her a tack from a jibe inspired her to go on great adventures including sailing up the Eastern seaboard on a replica of the HMS Bounty and experiencing Argentina from the deck of a 38’ catamaran. As Administrator for the new Adventure on the River day program, she hopes to inspire a new generation of youth to take to the water.

Allison has worked with youth through boating programs at the Living Classroom Foundation and as a Sea Scout volunteer.

Jim Clute

JIM CLUTE - SAILING MASTER

Sailing is a a passion that Jim has enjoyed sharing with others over the years, whenever and wherever possible.  Jim's sailing experience goes back to his youth as a Boy Scout and Sea Scout, obtaining the rank of Life Scout and Quartermaster.  Jim also served in the Navy for 24 year where he applied his leadership skills as a petty officer.  During that time he had the opportunity to sail both recreationally and racing on the waters of the Great Lakes, San Diego, Hawaii and the Puget Sound areas.  Jim currently owns a sloop rigged 23' Aquarius purchased in 1970.  Over the years he has volunteered as an adult leader in many organizations such as the Grange, Awana, the American Legion, the FFA, and of course Boy Scouts and Sea Scouts.  As Sailing Master, Jim will oversee all sailing instruction and activities.
